Physical Education
Sport, exercise and the health of our pupils are an essential part of fulfilling our vision statement: Inspiring All Children to Create and Achieve.
At Earls Colne Primary School, the prime purpose of PE is for all pupils to develop an understanding of the significant benefits that leading a physically active lifestyle will have on their lives and to enable the pupils to experience a wide range of sports.
Our curriculum enables all pupils to experiment, practise and compete in an enjoyable, stimulating and appropriately challenging environment whilst experiencing a wide range of sports. The range of activities, seek to ensure pupils enjoy success and are motivated to participate in competitive in-house activities and local competitions- including our annual Key Stage 1 and Key stage 2 Sports Days.
We offer high quality teaching, including qualified coaches and trained staff who deliver weekly lessons and optional clubs to further enhance pupil’s experiences. Specialist coaches are invited in to give children a taste of a range of different sports- in the past these have included: squash, tennis, fencing and table tennis. We are lucky enough at Earls Colne to have great links with the local recreation club which is how we work with our table tennis coach, cricket coach and tennis coach. Some of our pupils attend our after school club and then go on to play at the recreation ground club.
Earls Colne Primary School is fortunate to have its own outdoor swimming pool which enables all pupils from Reception through to Year 6 to take part in swimming lessons every Summer Term with a qualified instructor.
